Weekend in Review: 3 matches 3 results

June 05, 2017

Opening weekend for JASA RWC was filled with goals, sweat, and some very entertaining soccer.  All teams featured with home matches at Red Morton Community Park in Redwood City.  JASA Ladies kicked of the first of three matches in front of roughly 40 fans against a Monterey County Soccer League Women's (MCSL) team on a beautiful evening in Redwood City.  It didn't take long for JASA Ladies to get on the scoreboard as Guadelupe Tarejo got on the end of the a cross, heading into the back of the net.  JASA Ladies continued to have good spells of play and very good looks in front of goal with both Melissa Urena and Mar Gomez with multiple one on ones with the goalkeeper.  MCSL was resilient to the onslaught and scored two unanswered goals one in the run of play and the other off corner kick in the first half.

JASA Ladies continued to apply the pressure in the second half but MCSL proved to be stubborn up to the last play as the Ladies failed to get the equalized past MCSL's goalkeeper.  JASA Ladies goalkeeper Kaylin Swart ended the day with 8 saves.  Up next for the JASA Ladies is a road game against Dynamos FC at Las Positas College, Saturday June 10th 7pm kickoff.

JASA Dos, JASA RWC's collegiate aged players played second on Saturday against a very talented San Jose City FC squad.  Featuring a lot of new faces for JASA Dos went down to an early goal from SJC FC, however it didn't take long for the group to click and provide some action in front of SJC FC's goal area and quickly responded to the opening goal with Gio Gomes converting a kick from the mark after he was felled in the penalty area.  The first half remained deadlocked at 1-1.  The second half proved equally exciting with both teams come near and close to putting their team ahead.  But it was JASA Dos who put themselves ahead with a smashing header from centerback Alex Avilla off a corner from Gomes.  In not surpising fashion given how back and forth the game was SJC FC quickly responded and equalized.  JASA Dos held on and secured a 2-2 draw.  JASA Dos next match features a in house derby as they line up again JASA (open) team on Friday night June 9th at 7:30pm at Red Morton Community Park.

JASA rounded out the weekend against Simple FC of Palo Alto.  The game started out square but it didn't take long, 4 minutes exactly for Rene "Chiva" Duarte to get on the end of cross from Lewis Walker after a mazy sideline run.  The game could have gotten very exiciting moments later as Simple FC broke through and scored a goal but was deemed offside.  After that moment JASA continued their dominance in possession and it proved rewarding as 3 more goals were added to the score card.  JASA's Bobby Crowe got 2 and Chandpreet Sandhu finished a midfield jaunt to slot one in.

After half time JASA resumed their control over the match with Crowe completing his hat trick.
Simple FC were able to peg one back but it was too late at 5-1.  Then Chiva got his double as JASA rounded off the scoreline to make it 6-1 to end the game.  JASA resumes this Friday June 9th against the youngsters JASA dos at 7:30 at Red Morton Park.
